I heard an hour-long interview with Rick Warren a couple of nights ago while trucking down the highway. (You can hear it, too, by going to moodyradio.org and following the link to the "Open Line" radio program.) To my great astonishment, Rick stated that his book, the best-selling hardback of all times, was dedicated to bi-vocational pastors.
"Now that's a real step in a forward direction," I thought to myself.
Christianity is indeed overly commercialised to the extent of turning people off in a very big way. The bi-voca pastor idea could help remedy this defect. It was enjoined, infact, by the apostles yet was short-lived as a practice. See Acts 20.
Yesterday, I picked up a copy of the book at Wal-Mart, thumbed to the dedication page, to find that it was "dedicated to YOU" which was strange because the famous first sentence of Chapter 1 reads that "it is not about you."
