As a US Army veteran, and as a spouse of an Army Reservist now serving in Baghdad, I wish to extend a hearty "Thank You" to those who have or are serving in the Armed Forces, and to the families keeping watch at home. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Captian of the Host, protect you and give you peace that goes beyond understanding! Thank you for your service and sacrifice to keep America safe and free!

Pat, I can hardly think about the sacrifices made by our servicemen and their families without a great solemnity coming over my spirit. My own father served in Patton's Army in WW2 and barely made it back home. And if he hadn't - I suppose I would not be here.
Thank you, Sipperly's, and all our servicemen and women. Word's just don't cut it... God knows I appreciate you all.
Obviously, this has been a difficult war - one that has now divided our nation. One that did not go as expected, in many respects.
Well, greater than a military conflict, there is a spiritual conflict going on before our eyes. True?
Here are some texts which speak of a "door" being opened to preach Jesus. I hope doors will be opened for the Iraqi people, now that their dictator is gone. Likewise, for Iran, and other nations longing for something better.
Acts 14:27 On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 16:9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
2 Corinthians 2:12 Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me,
Colossians 4:3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
Let's pray that the fighting will continue to subside, that doors will be opened for the gospel, and that our troops can return home.
Two things, almost needless to be said: 1) Islamic people (as do all people) need to discover Jesus. 2) House churches can have a role in the process.
