Here's a short video that might bring a chuckle: http://revver.com/video/975389/let-mickey-drill/

I'm sure there are a thousand political opinions on this forum. And mine is just one of them. I personally don't appreciate the views of the MoveOn.org crowd, so I thought I'd make my own video to poke fun at one of their recent YouTube videos. Enjoy!

Haven't Christians forsaken their own opinions to be led by the Spirit? This is a Christian forum. There are those here who's only politics is the kingdom of God. For the others...what are you doing here?

John 2,
When I first read this, I was left wondering. So I wondered for about five minutes, [Roll Eyes] and then figured I would comment on your two questions, and your one comment. I think this can best be done by asking you some simple questions.

First, are you implying (or directly stating) that we should hold to no opinions in political matters? ...Scripture please!?!

What? Who called the religion police? Can I see your badge sir? [Smile]

NOTE: Since The Lord invented people, and MOST people have a sense of humor, I submit that The Lord Himself is responsible for said sense of humor. That being said, I can find NO BIBLICAL EVIDENCE to support the "fact" that making light of the current political climate (and ridiculous oil prices) violates Biblical mandate. [Razz]

I do see Biblical mandate for treating others as you wish to be treated. So, I have decided to pull out my anti-religion police badge and overrule your religious one. And yes, this is the way I always want to be treated if I should become so religiously inclined. [Big Grin]

Be a blessing,
Matthew

Remember being taught about politics in school? Well, one day the teacher asked the class what they knew about politics. One boy in the back raised his hand. "Yes Bobby?" Bobby said, "My sister swallowed a clock...and now Paula ticks."

By the way...

I've started a community website: www.MyBayfield.com And one of the pages is called "Daily Faith." I plan to elevate faith above organizations and include many links, write ups and items about the church meeting in houses.

A big thanks to everyone for their encouragement over the last year - especially while my wife was serving in Iraq, and my rebellious, teenage son ran away from home. All are home. God is good!

Good to hear things are looking up. Will your wife ever have to go back?

Getting called back up is always a possibility. She wants to stay in for 20 years (another 8 to go). The benefits are worth it, and it's something we've prayed about and felt peace. Truly a peace that goes beyond understanding!

I once heard a story about a kind of ignorant Sargent who was always able to sell almost all of his men the army's quite complicated life insurance. The army wondered how he did so well, and so they went to see.

His speech went something like, "Now men, y'all know any of you may be called on to go into battle, at any time. The army has this here life insurance, see? You don't have to get it or nothin' ...but who do you think they will send in first, the ones of you that got it, or the ones of you that ain't!?!"

I have a friend that went over. He was a hummer gunner, and is now out. He was thankful he didn't have to go back (ever though he did try). I mentored him from a child, and he is one of those that "beat the odds" and came out of drugs, alcohol, etc. He is now married, has a career in computers (something he picked up from being around me) and seems truly happy.

Be encouraged,
Matthew

Praise the Lord for those who have returned home!

Hi all, this is a delicate subject but I believe we can handle it with the usual mutual respect which becomes a Cafe visitor. I don't get the idea that anyone is here to merely endorse candidates or parties. We can and do differ on such matters, before God.

We are to be transformed by the renewal of our minds, not the removal of them. May God lead us to the opinions and actions which glorify Him regardless of the subject matter. JESUS IS LORD OF ALL THINGS, EVERY ISSUE, I know. EVERYONE WILL BEFORE HIM AND GIVE AND ACCOUNT OF ALL THEIR WORKS. NO AREA OF LIFE OR LEARNING IS OFF LIMITS or irrelevant.

Back to the rock pile...

Well put, D. And truly, of all the things I've ever lost, I think I miss my mind the most. Pass a rock, would you?

Oh, I have one a preacher friend told me (he actually told me several). He was quite the cut up, and you never knew what he was going to try and do, while your back was turned. He is a carpenter, and I spent a whole summer listening to his stories, and trying to keep him from sneaking up on me ...and scaring my socks off! [Smile] Here is the story.
  • There was once a pastor that had an elderly lady that was always in attendance, every Sunday morning. Anyway, one day she missed the service, and the pastor became worried, and decided he would call on her to make sure she was okay. He knocked on her door and was happy to find that she was okay. She invited him in, and informed him that she had just gotten back from seeing her son. He came in, sat down, and began talking with the elderly lady. As he talked, he helped himself to a little cup of peanuts that sat on her coffee table. Pretty soon, there were none left. When he noticed what he had done, he apologized, and stated that he had skipped lunch to come and see if she was okay. The kindly lady reassured her pastor that he had done no harm, stating... "That's okay pastor, I needed to get some more. Besides, all I can do is suck the chocolate off of them anyway."

Be blessed,
Matthew

Be a blessing,
Matthew

"No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier." 2 Tim. 2:4

I don't think it is "religious" to seek the mind of Christ and the unity thereof as opposed to walking in the futility of our minds as the nations do. A Christian is not to entangle himself in temporal things to no profit. I do think it religious, on the other hand, to relegate "God things" in a certain category, while retaining the right to live as one pleases, as so many do. Jesus is Lord after all, no? Are we not to be of one mind (in Christ)?

"This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you from now on walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind," Eph. 4:17

Being a blessing, ;-)

The question is... Do you think it is "carnal" to tell a joke or have a political opinion?

Are you sure [Razz] ,
