I have another question to lay before you all. It is in regard to Luke 16 and the parable of the unjust steward. Can anyone explain why the Lord would commend an unjust steward?

This is one of the more interesting parables, isn't it?
My feeling is that it is the "shrewdness" in advancing the Kingdom that Jesus is commending to us as a desirable trait.
I read a blog by a cross cultural worker, in which he said he had been sitting at his desk scheming how to make more money in a new business he was involved with.
The Spirit spoke to him, saying, "If you schemed as hard about reaching Muslims with the gospel as you do about making more money, you'd win a lot of people to Christ."
Ouch!
-------------------- You & Me and Jesus. We are enough!
I am not certain what our Lord is teaching here but the details are as real as today's newspaper.
Luke 16:3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
Do not many today, especially those just graduating from college, feel overqualified for "lesser" jobs? Have not the trades been looked down upon? Have not "dirty hands" become reproached?
Are folks still ashamed to ask for help, (unless they are seeking help from the government?) Often, too ashamed...
Luke 16:5-6 So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
Some derivative of this account is transpiring everyday, probably every hour or minute, whether on Wall Street or Main Street. Some call it "keeping two sets of books." Another description: "cooking the books." Today, it is the "sub-prime mortgage crisis."
Human nature - it never changes until the grace and power of God intervenes. May our Lord keep us faithful in those little things which determine our true character.
