Ecclesiastes 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Kim lamented the making of many books several days ago:

True, there is no shortage of Christian books, most of which are written in order to sell. Junk food for the Christian soul. Most of them at our local Christian books shops look like self-help books. "Freely we have received - freely we give" seems to have few takers these days. Rick Warren, for example, declared that his books contained the wherewithal for a "new Reformation." If he really had a heavy duty "must hear" message which the whole church needed so badly, why couldn't he have posted it on the internet to be downloaded freely by an audience many times as large as the millions who purchased the books?

I see that Paul wanted his books which he left behind: 2 Timothy 4:13 "The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments." What kind of books they were, I have no idea but I see that he referred to certain poets when preaching. He cared enough about culture to use his knowldge of it to build bridges, becoming all things to all men.
