A fellow used to come to our meetings after work. Upon seeing my wife, he would get excited and give her a long hug and kiss. I noticed that he never did the same for his own wife. Anywaaaaaaaaay... does anyone here practice holy kissing? Truly there is a mandate for it.
In veiw of brother Jeff's remarks from earlier today, I would be interested in his opinion. Yours, too, of course!
Romans 16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
1 Corinthians 16:20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.
2 Corinthians 13:12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.
1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
Odd, I wonder if that gentleman took his other duties as seriously? This doesn't appear to me as a commandment from our Lord. I would say that what you were experiencing was bordering on fanaticism and "holy" lust.

Maybe there is a spiritual reality behind this example too, that should be manifest in us too? Lord, what would a Holy Kiss be? That we may greet our brothers with it. Hey all, thanks for the concern over my teeth pain. I had my second root canal today, lot of fun. Well, praise the Lord, it all passes before Him and we need to fill-up the suffering that is lacking in the Christ (the Anointing).

When I was a new babe in Christ, I had read about greeting your brother with a holy kiss. When a traveling evangelist came through, after the service he came toward me to hug me in Christian greeting. I awkwardly kissed him on the cheek, remembering this verse. He was gracious enough to not show the shock I'm now sure he felt. Others around me were not so gracious. I quickly learned at that assembly that the greeting with a holy kiss was not practiced anymore. I have never reverted to that innocence, and really kinda regret it.
