Does anyone know of a New Testament style house church in the Sacramento area?

Hi Darrell B,

Try the directory feature of this forum. I think I saw several names listed from that area. Don't know if you will be able to find them but it's a start.

You might search MeetUP.com or post your own meeting there and see who replies.

Good hunting!

Hi Darrell, glad you have joined us. I pray you will find fellowship in the Sacramento area.

I happen to hold to the view that any number of persons, great or small, can meet as the church.

Anyway, keep us posted, brother, as to what you find.

Others, let's join in prayer right now for Darrell and for Sacramento.

Well! We do now, don't we! Welcome, God's House in Sacramento! Welcome [Smile]

We lived in Placerville for a while, and knew a lot of home schoolers. Since that is a natural precurser to home church, I'm sure that if you pray and keep your eyes open, you'll find many home church people. We found that just talking about house church led to us finding people who were still "in church" but ready to change. so we sought the Lord together to answer the question, "What is the Church that Jesus wanted? What did he say? How can we obey?"

As D Anderson said, there is no need for numbers beyond "me and one friend" gathering In His Name. If we pray the 10:2b prayer (Lord! Send Laborers!) and the verse that says, "Ask of me and I will give the nations as an inheritance..." and "pray for the city where you settle", people will start flowing into your life, to whom it will be natural to say "C'mon over for a barbecue!" and to then share your testimony in a natural way, mention God's wisdom for their problems, and to build a relationship along which the gospel will flow.

Jesus said, "The Kingdom of God is within you...." and "Go to a village..." The hallmark of the Kingdom of God is not weekly meetings, but a change of internal compass that says, "I only do what I see my Father doing..." which is, telling good news to the poor, praying for the sick and loving my neighbor.

Prepare for a 1 to 4 year process of detoxing from "regular church" and seek to "listen more and talk less" and you'll find treasure beyond price.

I like something Brian Hogan says: "I am the church. I am the church. There is no one more church than me!" There's no way to find a church except to be the church you want to see, and to let every relationship be transformed by Jesus In You, the Hope of Glory! People will then "join your church" which won't have weekly meetings, but will be God's people Fron Day to Day and from House to House.

Blessings!
Laurie Ann
