Some of us look at the Islamic Jihadists and their willingness to die and scratch our heads. But why shouldn't they be eager when 72 virgins await them on the other side?

Before we write these off as seriously brainwashed, look right here in the USA at the mormon prophets who are arranging multiple marriages of young girls and older men. Thank God one of these "prophets" had his day it court yesterday and was convicted. I hope this case sets a precedent.

Speaking of mormonism, DL Moody addressed them years ago in their great tabernacle as did Ravi Zacharias in 2004. To read more of Ravi's visit check out:

David,

If you are speaking of Warren Jeffs then he is not actually a Mormon, as in LDS. He is the leader of the FLDS Church (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). There is a difference--which I'm sure the LDS Church would like to remind us. According to the LDS Church the name Mormon can only properly be applied to its members, though its broader use denotes those who claim to believe in the Book of Mormon.

Also, I think I am offended by the term "Bible thumping." Should I be? How do you define it? Hopefully it is a fanatic and not someone who lives strictly by every word of God and disciples others to follow.

You know, the natural man takes exception to anything which threatens his existence and he will fight back! He will accept small compromises, which feel and look like religion but don't impact his way of life, but he will oppose anything which will actually effect him. So a lot of good Christian people have been called "Bible Thumpers" because their strict application of scripture in their own life has caused guilt in the lives of others.

But you can't have a new birth unless the old man dies! So I would question anyone who claims to be "saved" yet continues living like there is no tomorrow. (That is an idiom, of course, which means Nike, or "Just Do It!", "You only live once", "Eat and drink for tomorrow you die", "Go for the gusto", etc...)

Hey brother. It is impossible to put into words how little I care for the fraudulent doctrines of the LDS or the splinter group here in view. Both are rooted in polygamy and a false god, etc. Naturally, the offical mormons are seeking to distance themselves from all the bad advertising. Why not go a step further, say I, and distance themselves from their polygamous founding fathers?

I'm sorry you may have taken offence at the phrase: 'bible thumper." I just happen to notice that some of the most deceptive people around are quoting scripture - just as Satan did in the temptation of our Lord.

He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16

Think of it, man, people are destroying themselves with the word of life as the instrument of that destruction. Incredible.

May the Lord bless and keep you. Me, as well.
