Since a flood of evil has come upon the world; as we can see from all around us: Who is building the Ark of Truth that will keep the flood waters of the world below us? I believe it is the Holy Spirit and I do believe that there is a new movement in the world in which Christians are separating from the Church- not simply because of doctrinal compromises and other institutional problems- but because there is now a need for a new awakening: A new Beginning. I think that there is a spiritual separation taking place in our midst where the Holy Spirit is sorting out the 'wheat from the chaff'.
I think however that whereas in the past; during the great evangelical revivals; and even earlier during the Reformation; and perhaps even in the first centuries of the Christian Church there was always a tendency to fall away in succeeding generations. What's different now is that we are almost at the very bottom of the spiritual trough and soon there'll come a time when the Spirit uplifts His people into a holy nation of believers united in one Spirit and one Truth. When that process is finished He will return. I think though that it is the minority that will combine holiness of life with good works and faith. This is in stark contradistinction to the Laodicean spirit of the age.
I look forward to the time- and believe I will live to see it- when things will only get better.

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1Timothy 1:5
I was always encouraged by believing, 'in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good thing.' Consequently this left me free to believe that 'every good gift comes down from above from the Father of lights...' So having no faith in myself to live a holy life I could more easily trust in Christ to lend me some of his holiness. I think most Christians struggle with the concept of holiness because they find it naturally repugnant that the fallen nature can be made holy and Christians are often heard to say, 'We're all sinners' but on the other hand if we believe that the fallen nature or self life is slain by Christ's power and a new life from the Spirit comes into us then based upon that grace there is not only hope of perfection in some future state but in the warmth and closeness of the Holy Spirit in our hearts today with steady progress in 'sanctification'.
