Micheal,

In a desparate case like this I would lay myself out in front of God and ask what I must do in order to correct the problem. Sometimes the real problem/s are not the ones we think they are. So he might lead you in an altogether different direction, and you MUST be open to that. For most people the problem lies in their tithing.

Dear Michael,

My heart goes out to you and your family, will of course pray for you.

Do you have a church family, either home church (HC) or "institutional church" (IC)? We (the church) are to help each other in these situations.

Even if you do not have a HC, or IC, you might want to contact a church in your area. There are lots of churches who not only help families in need, for the immediate needs you have, but also help get you back on your feet for the future.

Also, while many are opposed to it, seek out United Way - they really are just a clearing house for other agencies.

Dear Michael,

There are probably many in similar situations of their own including myself.

Here are some thoughts:

Since you live near a large metro area, research via the internet what GED and College programs are available there. There are colleges that offer weekend and evening classes more often in the metro areas. Have you considered cleaning homes or working with the developmentally disabled in a non profit organization to make some income? Could your wife do some childcare? There always is a need for such services. I have found government work counselors to really have no motivation to solve what is my problem. They have a government job, so they have solved their income and benefit problem. They can be a good person to talk with during the process of getting a job. They should be able to offer you tuition money right now. Taking bankruptcy in order to save your home is another possibility. This is better than being homeless! Also foreclosure takes a number of months, but differs by state. Some states give the homeowner 18 months to resolve the situation. A new job in a similar field as the old job and 30 or 60 days, and you may be able to refinance your mortgage through a No Income Verification Mortgage.

I hope this has been helpful, and the Lord Jesus Christ lead you.
