Hello saints.

People from time to time on the list bemoan the fact that we spend too much
time debating (arguing) and not enough time sharing what's going on in our
families and our meetings. I thought I'd share what my family did last
Sunday. We have three little girls (ages 3.5, 2, and 6 months). We
occassionally meet with David and Carolyn Anderson, Steve and Lois Johnson
(also lurkers on the list, I think), and a few others, but it's about a 90
minute drive each way, so that can be really tough, especially with 3
little ones. The others drive our way occassionally, and we love having
them in our home, but the drive's not any easier for them.

Last Sunday, we were planning on being at home by ourselves, and we've been
trying to have some sort of "meeting" as a family. Some of our times seem
better than others. It's hard to have a deep conversation with the little
ones with us, so we thought we'd try to have more of a story time with them.

We decided to talk about the Israelites reaching the promised land but
refusing to enter after the spies scouted out the land and reported that
there were giants living there whom they could not defeat in battle. This
was a new story for them, and they always like to hear stories (the older
two do). Then we pretended they were Joshua and Caleb and pretended to
scout out our home. We found some grapes upstairs (that my wife had put
there beforehand) and brought those back to Moses and the others. We also
sang a few songs, including one about "Twelve men went to spy on Canaan.
Ten were bad and two were good." I can't remember all of the words, so if
any of you know it, I'd be grateful if you'd pass them along. Finally we
prayed a little. We all had a good time and I think they learned a little.

We do something similar every night before bed (story, pray, sing), but
this was a little more special with the acting out the parts and getting to
eat the grapes.

Just thought I'd share what our family did. I (and many others, I'm sure)
would love to hear about your families/groups.

"Twelve men went to spy on Canaan,
Ten were bad and two were good.
What do you think they saw in Canaan?
Ten were bad and two were good.
Some saw giants big and strong,
Some saw grapes with clusters long.
Some saw God was in it all,
Ten were bad and two were good!"

Hold up ten fingers and then the thumbs down sign for "ten were bad"
And then hold up two fingers and thumbs up sign for "two were good"
Hope this is the song you wanted!

Sounds like you had a wonderful family worship time!

Hi,

Nice to see what you did. My hubby and I have our first " meeting" together. I call it a miracle. We have tried to study together and cannot . I take out the dictionnaries and he writes nothing down. I asked him to pick a chapter. We recently watched an episode of Touched by an angel, that talked about the Ark of the Covenant. He wanted to see if what they said was true. We searched the Bible for 1/2 hr. Then I jumped on the Net. We searched for 2 hrs. We concluded that it was false and based on 2 Maccabees. In which we don't believe in. So for the next couple of weeks, we are going to study it's voyage and maybe God has a plan for us. We also took up an offering, which we will put in a special account, for God's further leading.

Well that was my 1st sunday,

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

Thought I'd share a web site with an article about the Touched By an Angel program. The article is :Touched by an Angel: But Which Kind? by Berit Kjos It can be found at the Watchman Expositer www.watchma.org/watchman.htm. Sorry I don't have exact listing for article. Berit Kjos also has several other articles about TV programs you might be interested in. I've found very little on TV that is Biblical. The newest shows & movies tend to be way off. God bless you and your husband in your desire to be the church rather than "go" to a church. Trust in his word & his spirit.

Faith
