I am writing to introduce myself, having just discovered this wonderful website.
My name is Doug, and I live with my family in Southeast Wisconsin. We attend a traditional non-denominational church and participate in small groups called Adult Bible Fellowships. It is all rather boring, and I won't go into the details. I was involved with my family in a house church that quickly imploded about 5 years ago. It was a painfull experience and it has taken a while to heal.
I meet with a friend on a weekly basis and we practice body life one on one over scrambled eggs and coffee. We have developed a wonderful relationship and are talking about meeting as the church in one of our homes. There are others who would be interested, but it is all rather scary right now. For me, there is pain and fear of going through all of that again. For him there is uncertainty about our children and how it would all work.
Please pray for Steve and I as we seek God's will and listen to His leading in this endeavor. I think you will see me asking a lot of questions, and I hope to get Steve to come in here and join in too. Please be patient, I ask a lot of questions. Did I mention that I ask a lot of question?

Doug, Thanks for "stopping by" and introducing yourself and giving us a brief intro to where you are currently at and a little of where you have come from.
I'll be praying with you for the Lord's guidance and direction for you and Steve and your families (and for other Christians in your community who, unknown to you are probably feeling the very same way!)
I hope you'll come back often to tell us what the Lord is doing in your life and also please feel free to ask all the questions you want! We're all in this together and if one doesn't know the answer, someone else will.
Your servant for Jesus' sake, Bruce Woodford Norwich, Ontario Canada

Hi Doug,
Aren't you the "Love Man" from another list years ago?
Yeah, it's me. Thanks for keeping me on your mailing list. It looks like a lot has happened in the HC world since then. Looking forward to cooresponding with you.
Peace,
Doug

Well, it's been almost a year since I posted my first message. Now, in May of 2003, the desire to be in an hc is greater than ever. My family has moved to a new community that has a reputation of being "very Christian". Since we have been here (Spet. of 2002) not one pastor or leader from one of the many churches in town has stopped in to intorduce themselves. Isn't that kind of odd? maybe the word is out about me and my "wacko" views.
Anyway, the last 9 months have been spent in discussions with my fried Steve. We know we need to "do something" but have not done anything yet. I am now a dreaded "leader" of one of our adult bible fellowships at the IC we attend, where we act very adult, few even read their bible, and we wouldn't know fellowship if it bit us in the... well, you get the idea.
Thanks for praying. Keep praying. I am close to pulling the plug on the IC. One thought I had was to put an add in the local newspaper asking if anyone wanted to gather to talk about the New Testament church. I figure that those who know what I am talking about will respond instantly and those who don't won't. The only others that might are the professional clergy, so maybe I can get one of them to finally darken my door. :-)
