Hi Kenneth!Welcome to the house church interchange and a happy new year to you! You are the first poster of the new year!
It's good to hear from another believer who is seeking to get back to new covenant relational Christianity and excited about connecting with others of like mind whom the Father is leading on the same path.
By the way, in what part of the world are you located?
Hope you stop by often to share how God is leading and what He is teaching you along the way.
Have you ever noticed the emphasis in John's Gospel on "the Father"? I think He is mentioned over 50 times. The Lord Jesus did not say that He was the way to heaven as many believe, but rather the way to the Father! He wanted His disciples to be where He was. (John 14:3) Then, He goes on to tell them exactly where He was (at the moment when He was speaking to them... He was IN THE FATHER! (14:10,11) Oh, that we might learn more of what it is to realize and enjoy the fact of the matter that we too, (if we are in Christ) are actually IN THE FATHER as well and HE IN US! But not only that that...we are IN THE SPIRIT, and HE IN US as well! (Romans 8:9)
So we are not called to get together to go through a bunch of RITUALS, but we are to gather together to enjoy and nurture RELATIONSHIPS with the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and with the people of God who have been made members in the Body of Christ!
What a high calling is ours, when we realize that God's purpose for His church is to manifest His wisdom to principalities and powers (angels and demons) in heavenly places THROUGH US! (Eph.3:10)
Angelic beings have had centuries to observe and see the effects of rebellion and insubordination to God in His creation. But now they are intensely interested and are "looking in" on the church. Here, God desires that they will watch in wonder and amazement as they see obedience and submission to the mind and will of God in the daily lives and relationships of God's new covenant people. See I Cor.11:10 "because of the angels"; The Lord Jesus was "seen of angels" at His birth, at His temptation, at His resurrection, at His ascension... and "the mystery of godliness" (god-likeness) in I Tim.3:16 is that all of the 6 things in this verse which were true of Him are also true or will be true of us, the church! See also I Peter 1:11,12, "which things the angels desire to look into".
What a high calling is ours, to actually teach or be "object lessons" for the angels!!! May we walk worthy of the vocation with which we are called! Eph.1:4
Trust you will know the blessing of God and be made a blessing to many in 2004!
