I just read about this site in the book ,Jaded, I feel that many at my IC church ,myself included, are on the
verge of leaving, due to many abuses going on in our church, and maybe we should think about this very thing, of starting a house church.

Hi L.!

Welcome to the Housechurch Interchange!

I'm glad to hear that you heard of this site and stopped by to drop us a line. Hope you'll continue to keep in touch here.

As to your thoughts about starting a house church...could I suggest a slightly different perspective?

Since there already are a number of believers in your community, God already HAS started the church there where you are. He does not want another one started!

But where there is abuse, He certainly wants it stopped, and where abuse is being submitted to out of fear etc, He also wants such submission to cease.

In it's place He desires for true submission to Himself to be started and maintained in all of our relationships with other believers. Such means a radical change of perspective so that we begin to embrace the perspective that we ARE the church 24/7 and thus "church" involves our relationships with and our interaction with other believers WHOEVER they are, WHENEVER we meet them, WHEREVER we are! Yes, a good deal of our time and interaction is in our homes, so "church" should be in our homes. But such interactive relationships are also evident at work, at school etc.

So I'd encourage you and other believers with which you have interaction to determine to BE the church which God has already put together right where you are and whenever you meet one another throughout the course of any given day or week. Such a "church" cannot be subjected to the control and abuse of a religiuos organization which depends on "meetings" in "church buildings" and at times which are controlled by by an organization.

We agree that it may not be the thing to do to start a new house church if there is some already some in your area. However that is a blanket statement. Check out the house churches in your area. There may be one that is starting a new group. And would be happy to have new poeple to expand this new group. Just an thought.
