I did IC for the first part of my Christian walk but walked away from it because of the hypocrisy I saw in some very close leaders. (family...) I walked away from the entire faith actually. Well... I had an experience akin to Matthew 18. I'm referring to the parable that ends with "handed over to the jailers to be tortured...".
There's an easy way to learn and there's a hard way... ouch... Well I learned forgiveness and that leaders are human too. When I came back to Christ Jesus my family had gotten into hc. I like it because it feels more authentic. (not to mention all the references to hc in the New Testament...) My heart now is to connect with believers in Christ where I work and live any way they let me, whether they hc or ic.
Authenticity is definitely a big attraction for me to the house church movement. It has amazed me how huge moral failures could be happening right under our noses and most of us having no clue, while a handful who knew what was going on having no power to do anything - how can you be a whiste-blower when the perp holds your purse strings - and is a pretty smooth talker? Or how can you overcome the reluctance of the majority to believe that their "hired holy man" is doing THAT?
Anyway, I'm glad to hear of your restoration to the body. May you be truly blessed!

Hey Joe! I can identify with the learning the hard way route. I think sometimes I had to understand what was wrong with the "wrong" way, so I could hit my forehead and say, "Ahhhhh" (with or without the V8).
Anyway, Glory to God that you've made it back to the Lord. Concurring with Laurie Ann, may you find the fellowship you need, and be the fellowship for the others in need. Your experiences, both positive and negative, will be a help to others. Please be that example! Someone may avoid the torturers because of your advice.
Are you plugged in with other believers and getting settle to your satisfaction?
