We, that is the family and I, have been involved in house church for the last 18 years both here and Winnipeg. We presently live in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada. I serve the Lord full time in music and the Word. Very into Hebrew. Writing a book. Blessings to all my brothers and sisters out there.

Hey brother, Blessings to you! Thanks for checking in and making an intro. Now and then we, we can use a Hebrew student around here.

There is a statistic floating around on the internet which puts house churches in Canada at 125. Does that sound about right to you?

Do you happen to keep up with the archeology finds and digs in the Hebrew world?

John, Do you feel that there is persecution of Christians in Canada at this time?

Thanks bro,

I'll help in any way I can although the Hebrew isn't really a big help where the topic of house church is concerned.

I'd have to say that the number fluctuates as new groups "pop up" and others wane. I'd have to say that Ontario has the highest concentration of house churches. There are even a few networks. Here in Quebec there is much more sectarianism. Only a few house churches. No networks that I know of. People keep more to themselves here. I'm praying that this will change.

No knowledge of archeology, sorry. More into the Hebrew as the language of Torah. It's amazing how much more rich and weighty it is than what can be translated.

In regards to persecution, I think Canada overall is similar to the U.S. We share a similar culture. Canada being a bit more conservative I'd say. Quebec is another story. It's tougher here. Very individualistic/cliquish. Slow going. But what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right? ;0

Hope that answers your questions. Being from Tenn. yourself, are you aware of the twelve tribes or rose creek village groups?

Blessings in Christ's name

Au Contraire, mon frere! The Greek idea of "oikos" is simply the restating of principles of Hebrew household found in God's rules for living in the OT. We've had discussions here about the "Man of Peace" Jesus talked about, which requires understanding the Hebrew concept of "Shalom", and the idea of "household of faith" which requires understanding the tribal structure of Israel.

In our community in Oklahoma, we have the liberty to pursue the holistic, agrarian family-centered culture God seemed to be instituting. Home school laws are unrestrictive, land is plentiful and cheap, and agriculture well established. I'd would love to ask questions about Hebrew thought in, for example, the community God was establishing in post-Exodus Israel, and then again in Post-exile Israel. I'll ask those questions, if that's all right... when I remember what they are!

Blessings,
Laurie Ann
