HELLO, After a few years hosting small groups, JUNE AND I are moving to the continuous weekly committment. We picked dinner each "holy Thursday" kind of like the puritans. Thanks to David for a great site and valuable resource for oue new adventure. Keep in touch, RICH 1

HI Rich, You are rich, bro because you have a willing wife and a willing Lord. Praze his name!
Seldom do the puritans come up in the land of house church. They were actually more rounded than most folks realize. Ironically, they are sometimes rejected as purely legalistic and dull but many of the writings are Christ-centered, grace-centered to the extreme. And, they took "household worship" very seriously.
Rhode Island... now there's a place with some history!

Thank You once AGAIN, FOR EVERYTHING David. Clearly you are as perceptive as you are committed to the cause. Do you really want to get me started on the subject of Rhode Island? Up here everyone is taught the story of Roger Williams in school. The image however, seems to be of a stubborn, oddball, who ran away before the bay colony could put an end to the trouble maker. In other words, home of the Baptists! Members may want to check the story of his contemporary here, Anne Hutchinson, for a model of early house church in America. I could go on but... Til next time, Rich 1

Hello all. And thank you Rich 1 for the welcome. Greetings from Nelson in southern British Columbia. I'm still not even sure where the Lord is leading me. But that's okay because he has called me to open my door and use my gifts. Anyway I love the way He surprises me sometimes. And right now I'm on fire! I come from a non-denominational church here in town and am staying there. God willing. These people are my family. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated. Blessings, Bruce F

Good to see you jump into the action Bruce. Last night June and I watched the movie Rudy, great story of faithful determination, in football form. I mention it because of a great line the priest in it says "In 30 years of study of faith there are only 2 things I am certain are true: there is a God. and I'm not Him. How can any of us know how our movie (our lives ) are going to turn out, until the credits roll? Sounds to me like you got the right stuff. Don't let some of the anti big church talk bother you. You already have a vision of what church can be. If some in your church do not share the vision, then you will understand the frustration here. There is hope. Even the Roman Catholics have a solid position on house church. The new catechism, copyright 1994, a product of Vatican II spirit, calls it the Domestic Church, and calls it to play a vital role. Of course, they are still stuck with priests trained in the old ways of thinking and acting. That is why bottom up reform is the only way, the christian way. Tell us about your gifts, and keep those surprises coming. God bless you, Rich 1
