Recently I returned to my home town of Pueblo, Colorado. I have several friends who are praying about starting a home church in the area. I would like to know if there are any in the area already. I would also like to hear from anyone in Colorado, even if you are not in Pueblo.

Blessings,
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,
Could I challenge and encourage you and your friends who are "praying about starting a house church"? Let me give you an analogy:

(Suppose your biological family was scattered and separated by a tyrannical civil government. For a long time you and they had no contact or communication.
But at last a few of you "stumble across" each other. You all want to re-establish the family and set up the household again.)

In the above scenario, do you see any parallels to your relationship with other members of the family of God?

Regarding your natural family, would you pray about re-establishing the family or would you just know it was the right thing to do??? You might have to answer the questions: "Where?" and "When?" and ""How?" But you would not need any answers to the questions: "WHAT should we do?" or "Why should we re-establish our family?"

If you think that "house churching" is just one option out of many, I would suggest that get very clear in your thinking about which Covenant you have been brought into! Have you been brought in to the Old Covenant which had special buildings which worshippers had to attend, special priesthood worshippers had to support, special days and feasts worshippers had to observe, special rituals worshippers had to partake in, special foods worshippers had to eat (and other foods they had to avoid!), special ministries that only the special priesthood could attend to, special clothing they had to wear etc.??? If so, settle in to the nearest IC and become a little cog on a big wheel!

Or have you been brought in to the New Covenant wherein ALL to whom the blood (of Christ) has been applied are saints, priests, ministers, clergy, gifted by the Spirit of God, and are called to live their lives as unto God 24/7/365 in ALL that they do, (especially in the places where they live)??? If so, begin getting your hourly and daily assignments direct from your Lord, obey His directives immediately and you are in for an exciting adventure for the rest of eternity!!!!

There is a VAST DIFFERENCE between the Old Covenant and the New! But sad to say the vast majority of N.American "Christendom" functions according to the Old and not the New!!!!!

I agree with the above post. Too many people take this so seriously like it's leaving Christianity or something. In reality- it just simple fellowship.

I have become part of a home church recently and I would say don't worry about the organization.

Just invite some Christian friends over for dinner one day. Then invite them over next week. And the week after. There's your home church.

It's not about joining a group or starting a church. It's about fellowship, loving others, and growing in Christ.
