My wife Cindy and I have been in Prison ministry and Endtimes Ministries. We have found the churches in our area to be unfriendly to women who are ministers or in any leadership role unless it has to do with the nursery. We watch and listen to Christian programs each day when both are home and spend the time talking over endtimes and keeping up our five web sites. All of them have to do with Christian walk and ministry.

Don't be discouraged. I have visited a lot of churches as a retired pastor and found a lack of hospitality. I've taken this to encourage my wife and I to have our own house church and the experience had been rewarding. I don't believe we're to do anything else. We don't know if anyone will join us, at age 69 I'm not looking for company and we aren't lonely but contented in studing the Bible and seven days a week worship of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ. (There have been churches where we were embarassed at the preaching and we left. We don't want to do that again and by now we have given up the "image" of the church being a piece of real estate.) I think it is also a challenge to give up the guilt one has of not "supporting the church as a piece of real estate" in order to freely worship and study and fellowship as a memeber - or two, of a house church. I know the house church will survive, I don't know if the churches-as-real-estate will endure to the end.
