From: summit@worldaccessnet.com (Dan Mayhew)Home church logistics 101. We have food teams that take responsibility
for dinner each time we meet. Tonite, the family that was to prepare the
food didn't remember until about 5:30. The church gathers at 6PM! Plan B
went into action and a few of the people in the village (our code name
for the 7 households that live in the same ten block radius near here)
ran up to Safeway and bought hot dogs, buns, cheese, and whatever else
seemed good. Amazingly, after the dust cleared, there was more than
enough food for all. And that's saying something since that group has
about 30 in it! The delightful thing his how everybody picked up the
slack.
But it also underscored the other thing that is happening. The group is
needing to morph into two churches which looks like it will happen
within the next few weeks. People are praying about who should go and
who should stay when the church plant happens.
I wanted to bring this up because both are signs of typical growing
pains. Of the two, dinner was easy---a problem with a solution.
Multiplying a new church is hard because of people not wanting to see
things change even though it's clear they must. I wanted to know how
other groups face the challenges of home fellowship existence.
Creativity anyone?
Shalom!
