COLORADO SPRINGS (AP) – Ted Haggard, who was dismissed from the megachurch he founded after a man alleged a cash-for-sex relationship with him, plans to lead people in worship again.
The pastor told The Gazette he is holding a “prayer meeting” Nov. 12 in his living room in Colorado Springs but said it would also be correct to call it a church.
Haggard says he has no goals of building something like New Life Church, which began with about 25 people in his basement in 1985 and grew to thousands of members.
Haggard resigned from the church in 2006 after a Denver man said Haggard paid him for sex.
The gathering Nov. 12 will include music, an offering to New Life Church and a talk from Haggard about the power of prayer.
If Ted has truly repented, this is OK by me. I'll be the first to extend the hand of peace and fellowship to those who are genuine.
So many guys I encounter who are guilty of these kinds of things, just go into denial or even blaming others. Then, after some time has gone by, they'll even claim to be victims of gossip and slander.
I seriously doubt that Ted would keep "house churching" if large crowds began to come." I might be wrong about that, though.

Jim Bakker wrote a book in prison called: "I was wrong". Has Mr. Haggard spoken these words to anyone's knowlege?
It is not anyone's place to judge him. He has paid a huge price for his mistake, a price that will likely never be recovered. Forgiven? Indeed, if he has repented. That is between he and God. The fruit? The kind of fruit to come remains yet to be seen.
Unless you have walked in Haggard's shoes, wisdom would dictate that you stay away from evaluating his position between he and God. He is God's servant and none of our business. I feel for him, I really do. National humiliaton is not an easy does to swallow. Just let him be......and let God work it out. The same mercy I expect God to extend to Mr. Haggard, I desperately need myself. We all do. None are exempt. I will not use any measure to measure him, that none be used to measure me.
I do notice that when King David fell into sin, God nor his prophets, spoke anything to the effect that David's problem was only between he and God and should be privatized. In fact, because other parties were given the occasion to blaspheme against Him, the baby could not live.
Jesus, who always commanded mercy, also left word that those who did not repent should be rejected and the whole church be informed. Hopefully, mercy and forgiveness might come later.
Those in authority in the church, according to Paul, were to be "rebuked before all that all might fear."
I very much feel for Ted Haggard and wish him all the success with his new endeavours. No buts. I also feel for his former male prostitute. Might that one find the Lord Jesus in all the confusion? I pray so.
May God have mercy upon us all just as you reminded us, Lahry - here and hereafter. In the mean time, may we be known by our fruits. Amen!

thanks brother, One profound shortcoming of modern church is an acute lack of biblical church discipline. Pretty much like the Corinthian church. I think it is one of Paul Washer's 10 Indictments. Keep the faith, sir. Jesus is coming soon.

We’re all sinners saved by grace. I thank God for his mercy and grace. We are all in need of it. Thank God we have it. It was once said that Christians are the only ones who shoot their wounded. God forgives. I pray that God will bless him with a greater anointing. I. John 2: 12 I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.
