Can you tell me what is the legal side of house church in regards to personal injury insurance. I am keen to start a house church, but these days, we have to make sure everyone is covered for all situations. Has anybody else had to find out this?

Dont' take this as the "Gospel", but this is what I've been told from a formaly trained IC administrator: As soon as you have an ordained "Pastor" in your organization you must have personal injury insurance. If there is no Pastor (Rev. Minister, etc...) your regular home owners insurance will cover things. ALSO, if you have gone out and filed for tax-exempt status you apparently need insurance... Bottom line seems to be Keep It Simple Saints! :-)

Upon forming Christ Love Ministries, we asked for guidance on the issue of Insurance for our groups.
It was felt that the Church does not need protection from the world and that there was nothing of this world worth protecting.
The money that would have been spent for insuring us against legal action is donated each quarter to a local food bank.
We do not recommend this approach for all, but just for those who are comfortable with it.

I am the pastor of the home church which is held in my home. Should I get personal injury insurance? This church is not incorporated, being it just started a few weeks ago. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you, Diane

Diane, I am just curious! I was a Baptist pastor for a few years until I discovered that no N.T. church had a pastor at the head of it! The word "pastor" is only mentioned once in the N.T. (Eph.4:11) in which it is found in the plural!
I'm just wondering how you came to be "the pastor" of this house church of which you speak? Did any N.T. churches have "a pastor" or one who was "the pastor"?
