Last night I listened to a very sad story of a person who misused government defined "church status" and claimed way too many home-based church deductions to lower his taxes. He even paid himself as pastor.
Now, the IRS is denying him these deductions as well it should. IMO. He owes back taxes with interest and penalties not to mention steep legal fees.
There is another unseen cost of not playing by the rules: constant paranoia.
Does not money have a way of bringing out the true character of some of us?
