Hi L.I really don't know if anyone has ever had any luck starting a "singles house church".
But, I'll be honest with you, I really hope not!
To attempt to start a "college students' house church", a "married couples' housechurch", a "seniors house church", a "men's house church", a "women's house church", a "white peoples' house church", a "black peoples' house church", a "German house church", a "Japanese house church" or any other kind of house church, which by definition would exclude other believers whom the Lord Jesus has received, would be contrary to the principles of I Corinthians 12:13-27.
God builds into His church people with a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, interests, spiritual gifts, and even marital status! Certainly singles have a natural desire for the company of other singles, young people have natural desires for the company of other young people, mothers of young families have desires for the company and fellowship of other mothers, men desire fellowship with other men and women desire the fellowship of other women. But we need to realize that to experience and keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3) we need to seek fellowship with believers regardless of their similaritiies or lack of similarities to ourselves.
In fact true unity can never be experienced EXCEPT in the midst of DIVERSITY!
I've often illustrated this principle with the example of a train. Could you have a train that fulfilled it's purpose if you tried to make a train out of 24 locomotives? 24 box cars? 24 cabooses? 24 tank cars? or 24 passenger cars? NO! Only as a number of DIFFERENT units are linked together and each fulfills it's intended purpose can true unity exist.
The same sort of principle applies in the church of God. So I would urge you to embrace in church fellowship believers in the Lord Jesus regardless of their age, marital status, economic status, nationality or denominational background.
