The fountain gets inside the drinker! And flows out to water and give life to others. Isn't it a beautiful picture! I was deeply blessed recently when I heard it illustrated somewhere as being like one of those multi-level fountains that you can find in Rome and other places. They have the water coming from the top, flooding out over one level, then overflowing to another and still another and then out into the pond below. Everything that God gives us fills us and then flows to others.
Every now and then when I'm tempted to hold things to myself, to not give out to others and to "charge my own batteries" for a while, the Lord reminds me of this picture. When (eventually, I can be stubborn when the Lord's leaning on me) I give in to him, and start giving out to others, what a joy it is to be topped up again by his Spirit!
Just another of those perverse, upside down things that make the Gospel of Jesus so wonderful.
