I was watching a DVD produced by Amazing Facts in which Doug Batchelor, the Bible Answers radio man, was depicting the last day events. He was saying that just as Satan pretended to be an angel of light when tempting Christ in the wilderness, he will also appear on earth as Christ returned. He quoted 2 Cor 11:14 where Satan turns himself into an angel of light and Matt. 24 where Jesus warns about not going to see false christs when others say, "He is in the desert."
I started thinking about this and it really started to make good sense. I mean, if people really believed it is Jesus they would rally around him and the whole world would follow after him--except for the elect, of course. It is much more plausible than the charismatic man portrayed in the Left Behind series. I mean, if people thought it was really Jesus it would not be hard for him to convince them of many false things and lead them astray to setup and worship a false religious system.
The Left Behind series portrayed this "antichrist" being as having magical powers to make people believe things against their will. Kinda far fetched and unbelievable to me--the way they presented it. But if people did not know their Bibles and thus the manner of Christ's coming, that it would be like lightening which shines from the East even unto the West, then they would be deceived into believing that it truly was Jesus returned. What a powerful deception.
What do you think? Do you think a human could really pull this off, or, as Doug teaches, it could be the Devil personating Christ. Think of the miracles he could perform and how eloquently he could quote scripture and act so benevolent. What a powerful deception to those not grounded in the Bible.
I do think that is what is going to happen. That is why they are going to be decieved it will actually look like a "work" of God. Look at all the people now how they say "God bless American" . Are these people Godly? NO. But this God that they always refer to will eventually turn into a fake looking Jesus, I think. And the world won't know the difference because they don't know their bibles. You can actually see it being set up right now. Bush is part of the one world government and he goes around saying "God bless the USA" and "God bless our troops".

2 Cor. 11:13-15 (KJV) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. [15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
I think we should avoid the Left Behind series and such fantasies of what the end will be like. We must remember we are and have been in the end times for 2000 + years and that Satan was transforming himself into an angel of light during the time 2 Cor. Was written. Notice also that there were false apostles pretending to be apostles of Christ. Satan had ministers pretending to be ministers of Christ then. Thus, today there are even more.
We don’t have to wait until the very end to see the spirit of antichrist working. He has been here all along. We need to be on guard always. However, at the very end Satan gathers the world against the true saints to battle. It appears that we are very near or maybe even in that last little time for since the 1800’s many new bible versions have come out changing the word of God. Many other books have been changed such as dictionaries and lexicons so that it is hard to go back and see the original meanings of words in the old versions of the bible.
There are many churches with false preachers working overtime to get the people to believe another gospel, follow another Christ, and be filled with another spirit.
2 Cor. 11:4 (KJV) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
These are the very ones who say, here is Christ or there is Christ and we should not follow them. Just like the preacher who invited us to come to see the “Lord” heal by making black stuff come out of folks. He used his false sign to try to lure us to see his version of Christ. However, none of his miracles were biblical; but rather used to deceive.
We are responsible to take heed and not be deceived. If we read false versions of the scripture or listen to false teachers or believe fantasy stories of the end times, it is we who deceive ourselves and allow others to deceive us. We must be diligent to prove what is God’s good and acceptable will for us. We must be wise as serpents but harmless as doves. We are not to let ourselves be deceived.
We are not to be looking in anticipation for the antichrist for he is all around us in the world and the world’s version of Christianity. We are to look to things above. We are to look for Christ. To watch. To be ready. Keep our eyes on him.
Matthew 24:42-43 (KJV) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. [43] But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Matthew 25:13 (KJV) Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Mark 13:33-37 (KJV) Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. [34] For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. [35] Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. [37] And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
Instead of looking for and trying to figure out who is “the Antichrist”, (a nonbiblical term, it is antichrist,) let’s be ready for Christ.
Luke 21:36 (KJV) Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
1 Cor. 16:13 (KJV) Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Col. 4:2 (KJV) Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
1 Thes. 5:6 (KJV) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
1 Peter 4:7 (KJV) But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Rev. 3:3 (KJV) Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
BTW, Kim, Why is it so many in the supposedly Godly nation of America are not godly? Do they already follow a different Christ, a different gospel and a different spirit? Yes, many do.
Ironic isn’t it to say God bless our troops? Scripture teaches we are not to kill our fellow man.
Luke 3:14 (KJV) And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
Ironic that our money says “In God We Trust” and then has Masonic symbols for the n-w-o on it. Who is deceived?
While I don’t often recommend books, for those who’ve read and believed the “Left Behind” series, I’d recommend the book Nobody Left Behind by David Vaughn. http://www.nobodyleftbehind.net/ Much of the bible studies for the book can be had for the reading at his web site at http://insight2bp.homestead.com/ Another interesting book on Revelation is “More than Conquerors” by Hendriksen As with anything written of men, use discernment and prayer for the Holy Spirit to led you. I don’t necessarily agree with all these men have written; but found them to be for the most part in line with scripture. These do back their commentary with scripture, which most of today’s endtime books sorely neglect.
