Today, it is hard for people to believe that in this age of enlightened reasoning men would even consider enforcing religious observance. Yet, history often repeats itself. This is especially true when we forget our past.
So, to remind us of our past I have included a link to one of my favorite websites, Answers.com.
Remember, this was a nation borne of people seeking religious freedom. It is claimed that when the pilgrims set foot in America some of their first words were, "A land without a king. A church without a Pope."
I contend that with attendance and tithing down, many pastors would like to legislate some kind of law to "allow" people to attend church on Sunday. But I don't believe this would ever fly because the reasoning is too weak.
However, scripture does tell us that just this very thing will happen in our future. Just what will triger such a paradigm shift I am not certain. But I do see possibilities in the occurrence of recent events such as terrorism, earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, tornados, and the like. If enough disasters hit then the attention of people will turn to God. Unconsecrated zeal may cause a fanatical response that warrants congress to take some action. What might that action be? That is the question.
Whatever the answer, we cannot dismiss the prophecies regarding legislated worship in Revelation 13.
