Something I've noticed over the years is the importance of our words. Isn't death and life in the power of the tongue? The Bible in several places commands us to not add to, or take away from the Word of God. May I offer this thought for our consideration: Let's not add to or take away from the word. Some of our coined phrases and words can confuse and divide us and do more harm than good.
Here is a short list of regularly used words and phrases that are not in the scriptures:
Trinity Five-Fold Ministry Once Saved-Always Saved Purgatory Accept the Lord Jesus as your Peronal Savior Rapture 2nd work of grace 3 in 1 God the Son or God the Holy Ghost
Again, these words that many of us have often used, are not in our Bibles. Yet entire doctrines have been built on them. By forsaking these words that aren't there, I've been forced to study what is there, and what the Bible does say, and have received great clairty and confidence in the word.
May I encourage us all to speak the truth in love, not adding to it, or taking away from it (Deut.4:1-2; Deut.12:32; Prov.30:5-6; Rev.22:18-19)
