I am glad that I discovered it, too, Rod. Johnny Cash went through major
turbulence in his course but it looks to me as if he really cared about
others, less fortunate.

We sometimes wonder why God allows so, so many to be downcast and
downtrodden. We can overlook the fact that God has ordained US to
intervene on their behalf. Many churches are so invested in buildings and
salaries that there is little left over for the needy. Are we, the home
church community, doing any better?

"... You did it unto me when you did it unto the least of these," Jesus
will declare.

I was reminded by the Man in Black of how some in olden days would also
make a statement by their personal appearance. Garments were torn and,
for some, the number of repairs to a garment was a status symbol of
"humility." God's prophet Joel had the fix: And rend your heart, and not
your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the
evil. Joel 2:13.

blessings to all,
