Jesus said, if any one is to follow me, let them first deny themself, take  
up their cross, and follow me.
 
Comfortable traditions, which are wrong, are hard to break, especially  ones 
that have become securities to those ingrained in them.  It takes  effort to 
make new habits, and break the old.  It takes time.   However, remember that we 
can do all things through Christ which strengthens  us.
