    Hi Bob,

You might find the commentary by FF Bruce on Acts to be helpful but there 
are many others. 

As for historical fiction, try Robert and Julia Banks' "Going to Church 
in the First Century." It's a small paperback.

Btw, did you ever update us on the recent gathering sponsored by
