These are Red Letter Christian Fellowship’s affirmations. For our purposes here, to affirm means to state as a fact (strongly and publicly) the positions we hold as true for us. They are dynamic and subject to change as new information becomes available.
Red Letter Christian Fellowship is a non-creedal organization and is open and welcoming to all faith affirmations. Therefore, in a word, we are an interfaith organization. This includes those who do not hold to a particular faith declaration (non-faith). Unequivocally stating that we could have “the corner on the truth” is anathema to us.
The Church: The “church” is not a building, an organization, or an institution. It is an assembly of people, whenever and wherever they may congregate, who consider themselves followers of Jesus and his teachings (referred to as the ecclesia in the New Testament).
Leadership: We affirm the “priesthood” of all people (See 1 Peter 2:5-9). The divine is equally accessible to all, and every person has equal potential to minister for the divine. Consequently, Red Letter Christian Fellowship has no “pastor” (but since this is a 501(c) corporation, we do have officers to comply with current Colorado state laws). It is our intention to operate how the first century assemblies of believers operated (as outlined in the early Christian writings - see 1 Corinthians 13, 14 & 15, Hebrews, Ephesians and James).
Faith: We affirm the journeys of all people to the divine or spirit. Our particular tradition is centered on Jesus of Nazareth and his teachings. We declare that Jesus was the best of what the divine looks like in a human being, and furthermore, is available to all people should they choose to emulate his life and follow his teachings. That being said, we respect and support the faith traditions of all peoples.
Justice: We stand with the poor, the oppressed, and the outcast, and equally stand against discrimination and oppression from all corners of society based on religion or belief, sex or gender, sexual orientation, race, color, age, disability, and economic status.
Love: Love is our singular guiding principle. We confess our weakness in this practice, and strive to always act from a position of love, but also acknowledge we fail miserably more times than we want to admit.
Finances: No one at Red Letter Christian Fellowship takes a salary. Nor do we have a “Donate” button on our website. Should people who visit our website or like and follow our Facebook page decide that they would have RLCF pursue a cause that involves financial support, as a group (ecclesia) we will make that decision together, collect the funds, and provide them to the cause for action. We do offer on-line courses from time to time and collect a fee to cover the expense of the course offering.
