House Church Talk - Front Line and PBS

Last Thursday evening I viewed some of the TV show Front Line's latest
program on the history of Christianity. Admittedly, it is an appealing
presentation, but their agenda is becoming an increasingly blatant effort to
undermine the power and influence of the Scriptures in our lives.

Using the same "experts" from formerly conservative universities they used
on previous programs, they proceeded to "authoritatively" misinterpret the
Gospels.

One example was that Mat thew was declared to be more apocalyptic than Mark,
while they falsely placed the writing of all the Gospels after the
destruction of Jerusalem. Most of us recognize the different emphasis found
in each of the 4 Gospels, but all draw attention to Jesus clashing with the
Pharisees, and Mat thew, Mark and Luke all devote significant attention to
the prophecies given by Jesus relating to the destruction of Jerusalem.

For some reason they saw Mat thew's "community" as having more difficulty
with the Pharisees than the others. In claiming that the Pharisees did not
become influential until after the destruction of Jerusalem, they are
basically denying what the Gospel writers said about their activities during
Jesus earthly ministry.

So how would you feel about the testimony of a witness who planted his own
prejudices into his narrative of the greatest man who ever lived?
