If I sound like I am whining, rebuke me, or correct me, or something. But
the concept of my wife and I was always that each of us obeys the Lord and
brings something to the meeting for the edifying of the church.

But I have been going through this cycle for about 8 years now. Any
suggestions?

Not discounting your second more qualifying post Dan, in which I thought you
said a lot... I too am concerned w/ an apparent tendency for the brethren
that reach 10 miles wide, but only touch 1 inch deep... As a mother hen
which stretches her wings over all, and ends w/ the touching of nothing...
I am more than shocked that could possibly satisfy...

Called on today, to reflect back to those, who have come to ask questions,
taste the table, and depart for more strategically placed "fast food
restaurants"... Convenience w/ throw away containers, seems to be the
"marketplace". Silverware w/ fine china just seems at odds w/ the lifestyle
imposed on the eaters, especially if they live in the dictates of the "fast
lane"... where no resistance or self restraint is even seen as
advantageous...

Let's face it Dan, you and I are a peculiar people...

<Story barrowed to make a point:>

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about
little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in a school play. His
mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared
he would not be chosen. On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her
to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride
and excitement. "Guess what Mom," he shouted, and then said those words that
will remain a lesson to me: "I've been chosen to clap and cheer!"

I suppose if we are resigned to be but "encouragers" to those that pass
through - let us both be the best God enables us to be...

After-all - as a Sister of wisdom, reminded me just today -

<<Spiritually, some of us spend a long time in the
process of learning that we play for an audience of One, and it is only His
applause, that will really satisfy our need for approval.>>
