Dear friends,

This has been the most horrible, nerve wracking, frightening week of my life.

Let me give you some background first:

As most of you know I am a partially disabled grandma, and a widow and have some problems walking at times due to post polio syndrome. However I can drive usually for up to at least an hour at a time before my legs give out and certainly short trips are fine.

And my daughter-in-law, Jennifer, who has seizures has had exactly the opposite problem, she always could walk but isn't allowed to drive, making holding down a part time job and caring for two little kids very difficult.

Soooooo as most of you know, for over 2 years now my son, daughter-in-law and the kids and I have lived together and it has been a win/win situation for all concerned. I drive, she walks and we both take turns watching the 2 little ones and my son has been able to go back to college and it all works beautifully.

Well Jennifer started in November experiencing some partial blindness, and some dizzy spells and we started a journey of taking her from doctor to doctor and no one could find anything wrong, and meanwhile she got worse and worse and it finally got to where she could not keep anything down, constant vomiting, and could not walk at all without stumbling and falling.

So then we switched tactics and we started a journey of taking her from hospital to hospital, two different hospitals kept her overnight and ran tests but couldn't find anything wrong so the released her.

But after the first of the year she got worse yet. The first week of January she not only was constantly vomiting even with the strongest nausea medicine they can prescribe, {she has lost 12 pounds in two months} and stumbled so much she fell twice and sustained two head injuries and a black-eye, along with numerous bruises, BUT she was beginning to hallucinate and suffer all kinds of bizarre behavior and personality changes.

Once more she stayed overnight in a hospital but blood-work and CAT scans and some other tests didn't show anything so THEY RELEASED HER.

And twice she didn't even get admitted to the hospital but was released from the emergency room, "well take her to THIS hospital over here.we can't help her".

Can't? or won't?

Of course part of the reason for releasing someone so obviously ill is no insurance.

For those of you not in the USA, yes this is the American way.either you have a nice job with insurance or if you are just trying your best to make it with what you can do . you fall through the cracks, and do not qualify for any kind of medical help and so hospitals are like."well if you can find a program that will pay .bring her back and we'll run some more intensive tests."

Grhhhhhh....

My son, {her husband} and I have tried and tried to find help. Meanwhile she became bedridden and needed 24/7 care for the last two days she was still at home.

Finally we got real drastic, I won't go into details but WE GOT REAL DRASTIC .and the poor thing was probably one step away from a coma at that point and thank God she is in a hospital now [even if it is 100 miles away, that's ok] and being cared for.

They feel she may have sustained a head injury of some kind, possibly while having a seizure back in November and may have a blood clot, or a lesion on her brain, or the head injury she had as a 5 year old that causes her siezures in the first place may be getting worse, they really don't know yet as their first priority is to get her medically stable after having gone through so much and all the vomiting.

It may take awhile to figure out just what it is, but we are reasonably sure she won't be released this time, from this hospital.praise God. And to be fair ...it COULD be the injury {IF there truly is one} is in the frontal lobe and ordinary CAT scans and MRI's won't pick it up because it's too deep in the brain, but once the symptoms got bad enough they can almost diagnose it from the symptoms alone.

They say she can't walk without stumbling and falling because she has one side of her brain with some damage and the other side is trying to take over for both sides but can't get the hang of it ..so her left foot acts like a left foot, and her right foot since it's getting messages from the wrong side of the brain is acting like a left foot too.

In other words she puts her left foot down where it belongs but she ALSO puts her right foot down where her left foot belongs and that's why she falls.

Please pray for her and my son and pray for her two kids aged 4 and 5, as they are old enough to know something really bad is going on, but too young to understand anything other than mama is very sick, daddy and nana are worried and they are scared.

I've been trying to hug and hold them and let them ask questions and just talk as much as I can.

God bless each and everyone of you, Sue
