Not mine but in the public domain... This truism is used around here
concerning sporting events... But if it is true and has merit concerning
sporting events - how much more is it true for believers that are in pursuit
of Truth/Christ?

As any good "instructor" already knows... If teaching is only verbal, 70%
is dismissed and forgotten by the time the instruction program is over...
If visual aids are used to help make the important points, then retention is
increased dramatically... and yet those programs that make time, take time,
and use of verbal, visual, and "hands on instruction"... They move from the
realm of "theorist to practioner"... It's w/ the "hands on" that "pie in
the sky theorists are exposed"...

John tells us our fellowship consists of what our ears hear, our eyes
witness, and our hands have/are handled... <here read it and hear w/ your
hearing>

1 John 1:1-4
1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have
seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled,
concerning the Word of life-- 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen,
and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the
Father and was manifested to us-- 3 that which we have seen and heard we
declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our
fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these
things we write to you that your joy may be full.
NKJV

Our testimony is girded about in truth... we have been down on the floor...
He, the Word of Life, is being experienced by us, and we are changed... not
theorized...

Blessings to all...

Have ya ever wonder, with all of the sermons we have ever heard, how come so
little is actually retained? Yet the Holy Spirit brings back to our
remembrance, what I term those one/two line "zingers?" Zingers that hold
Life, they actually fashion us much more, than all of those multitude of
words.. go figure! ha!

I believe "songs" often fit in the category of life emitting zingers...
Best sermons I've ever heard, and certainly more retainable.. <smile>
