greatness of the great commission
OK. The following are important and urgent words which I desire to live by. Furthermore, I believe that much of the sad shape of affairs in the West (church and state) are rooted in these same issues:
The most serious error in much of the current 'prophetic' teaching of today is the claim that the future of Christendom is to be read not in terms of revival and victory but of growing impotence and apostasy, and that the only hope of the world is that the Lord will by His visible coming and reign complete the task which He has so plainly entrusted to the church…
This claim is pessimistic and defeatist. I hold it to be unscriptural. The language of the Great Commission is world-embracing... The duty of the church is to address herself to the achieving of this task in anticipation of her Lord's coming, and not expect Him to call her away to glory before her task in accomplished.

I don't think the subject according to scripture is so black and white, otherwise God's word given thru the prophets of the end times and Jesus' in the New would be considered 'pessimistic' according to this author. The prophets were wrong when they said 'Peace' Peace' when there was no peace. Jesus spoke of dire times coming on the earth in Matthew 24 and Revelations. We need to continue to share the gospel, but we also need to be watchful. "While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."--1 Thess 5:3

oh, i missed the last bit--yes the author is correct--we will not be 'called to glory' until the gospel has been preached to all the world. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."--Matthew 24:14
