Wanting to start or find a home church

I live in Long Island, NY and I'm looking into home churches.  Was wondering if anyone knows of any in this area?

    • Hi, this is brother Yeghian, and although I am originally from the woods of California, I have also been to Long Island.   I am one of those Christians who walks his life with Jesus using the Gospels as my first stepping stone.   This whole thing that we need a big Kahuna Christian as a center core to our fellowship is essentially Byzantine smoke and mirrors.   I am not much for tatoos, but if I had one, I would put Matthew 18:20 somewhere, "οὗ γάρ εἰσιν δύο ἢ τρεῖς συνηγμένοι εἰς τὸ ἐμὸν ὄνομα, ἐκεῖ εἰμι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν."

Now, that "οὗ γάρ εἰσιν ...," or oo gar eisin ..., " really does mean "Where there are ... "  If you wished to, you could also translate that as "wherever."

Yet I get this sense among my American Christian brothers and sisters that they feel as if someone (earthly) has to wave a magic stick over their heads.   What I hear the most is "Oh, I haven't been to this school, or that school, or every time I walk on water I only get as far as a first SCUBA lesson."

Being a Christian in are own faith has never been about our schools, but it has always been about our faith and I walk.

Maybe you are an electrician, or police officer, or a doctor, or out there on Long Island, maybe a boat dealer?   One person is a start, and two is a church, and if there is a real brother or sister within 20 miles, they will want to meet with you and hear about your walk with Jesus, and even, how you do it!    Yes, I have been to all the big mukky muk schools, but I want to learn how to be a Christian electrician, or a Christian boat dealer, or even a Christian lawyer.   Yes, a lot of lawyers live out there, and I would bet one of them is a Christian.

The moment you thought about starting a fellowship you started one!
